Vessel – about us
Central to Vessel’s identity are the regularly
evolving exhibitions for which it has become renowned. Either on
thematic lines, or showcasing the more experimental work of selected
designers, the exhibitions fulfil Vessel’s mission to give
everyone an access to good design without the sterility and forbidding
nature of a traditional gallery. Internationally acclaimed successes
so far include the world wide launch of Nymphenburg Porzellan’s
new ranges, and the Salviati Meets London exhibition, which was instigated
and curated by Vessel , marrying the best of British creators such
as Turner prize winner Anish Kapoor, Tom Dixon and Nigel Coates,
with Murano’s most prestigious art glass company.
Vessel has been created to fulfil the need for one stop table accessory
purchasing. Customers no longer have to run around stuffy department
stores searching for minimalist glassware amongst amongst crystal
animal figurines. Instead, on entering the contemplative atmosphere
of Vessel, designed by our own Art Director Angel Monzon, one is
greeted with a warm, calm oasis in which to choose from the most
extensive and comprehensive collection of contemporary design available
in London.
The owner of Vessel , Nadia Demetriou Ladas, hopes there will be
something for everyone at her shop, from searching for a complete
tea set to buying just one exquisite piece. The common link she says
is “everything in the shop has been chosen with passion, and
it’s a passion I hope to share with all my customers, that
rush of excitement when you see something awe inspiring. All the
objects at Vessel fall into Walter Gropius’ definition of good
design, that they should have beauty, quality, function and affordability.”
