Olgoj Chorchoj, Czech Republic

Founded in 1990 by Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček whilst both studying under renowned designer Borek Sipek at the Prague Academy of Art & Design. Born from the ashes of the communist renouncing Velvet Revolution, and wanting to cast away the posturing of Postmodernism that preceded them, Olgoj Chorchoj bring a natural irreverence and fresh perspective to their work, as seen in their name, a purposefully meaningless phrase designed to confound anyone outside of the Czech Republic. Olgoj Chorchoj have undertaken a variety of design projects; from experimental seating and interior concepts, glass vases, porcelain-made sets and titanium jewellery to architectural projects. Their designs stress the use of technology and natural materials.
