London’s best home, design and interiors shops
Vessel Gallery has just been selected by Alice Revel of ‘Shopikon’ for Telegraph’s Travel and Home magazine, as one of London’s best home, design and interiors shops.
Alice writes; The financial downturn has meant many of us now spend more time entertaining at home but that does, at least, provide some justification for investing in beautiful furniture and arresting interiors products that make an immediate impact. An epicentre for the creative industries and a magnet for designers, London is home to some of the world’s best furniture, interiors and design shops. If you’ve scheduled a springtime clear-out or are planning on exchanging uninspiring, identikit furniture for something sleek and stylish there are plenty of London furniture and homewares shops that can assist you.
Part boutique, part gallery, Vessel Gallery is dedicated to contemporary craftsmanship, with regular exhibitions in the shop’s basement show space presenting the work of acclaimed international designers such as Simon Moore and Luvig Löfgren. Although Vessel’s overarching focus is on glassware – both decorative and functional – ceramics, cutlery, gifts and objets d’art also have their place in-store. Arranged over two floors, you’ll find extravagant pieces by collectible Italian brands including Salviati and Venini, as well as sleek, minimal pieces from Scandinavian designers such as Iittala and Orrefors. Sourced by Vessel’s art director Angel Monzon, the carefully chosen products on display are the antithesis of the hulking, homogenous ranges found in gargantuan suburban homeware depots. This is reflected in Vessel’s pricing too, and although there are Rosenthal wine glasses on sale for around £20 each, many products cost substantially more. Expect to part with a four-figure sum if purchasing Hokanson Dix vases or Tapio Wirkkala’s exquisite hand-blown bottles.
