Following the exclusively launch during Super Design in October 2009 at Vessel Gallery we are now finally ready to ship the first batch of Lampalumina by the Bouroullec brothers. Made in limited edition of 49 pieces per size. The lights are made with industrial ceramics (Sintered Alumina) and produced by Bitossi Ceramiche and Industrie Bitossi in Italy. Available in three heights: 55cm, 66cm and 77cm.

In forty years of manufacturing by Industrie Bitossi, ‘Ceramica alumina’ had essentially been used in the industrial ceramic field for grinding and firing purposes and in aerospace technologies. Normally used in sheets or in blocks, it had never been expected to follow free forms with precision. With the three lighting objects of the collection from the Bouroullecs, the softness of the material is revealed by the white, almost never-ending surface offering velvet-like tactile sensations, when the technical characteristics allow absolute precision in the realization. This unexpected combination grants those small lighting objects a precious dimension, highlighted by the thinness of the finishing.
