About: Hidetomo Kimura was born in Tokyio in 1972. He is an aquarium designer. He creates fish tanks, with magical atmospheres and futuristic shapes, emphasized with colored light games and with the charm of the sea flora and fauna.

He developed the interior design for “Aquarium Art”, “Sky Aquarium” and “Art Exhibition Aquarium”, a special event that shows the Kingyo, very popular fishes in Japan. He is also involved in some projects for the Japanese branch of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation (Florida, USA) and One Ocean Project, to preserve marine environment. He started to cooperate with Venini in 2012.

A new spectacular edition of Blooming Spark by Hsiao-Chi Tsai & Kimiya Yoshikawa was unveiled this week at Designjunction 2012 event. This is a second edition using new colours and techniques following the successful multi coloured Blooming Spark I from 2011.

Tsai and Yoshikawa come from textile and sculpture backgrounds respectively. Their joint practice has cumulated in some extraordinary pieces that marry unexpected materials such as neoprene, acrylics and UV paint with lighting and installation. Their bold use of colour and modern sensibility combine to produce joyful, imaginative work. The pieces are contradictory being synthetic, organic and hand made all at the same time.

Well known for their public and private commissions, for Vessel Gallery they have produced a vibrant unique sculptural chandelier in acrylic that resembles a bouquet of alien botany.

We have been showing Heather’s glass creations for a couple of years now and are thrilled that has she won The Balvenie Master of Craft Glass & Ceramics award however in addition to this, she has also been awarded the converted overall prize of Master of Craft for 2012.

Not only does Heather produce wonderfully engraved glass but she is single handedly bringing about a revival for the lost art of copper wheel engraving here in the UK.
