Ateenan aamu also called Morning in Athens, is a kinetic sculpture made of glass pendants which when swayed by the wind issue a soft, metallic chime reminiscent of the church bells of Athens on a Sunday morning. These bells being the influence for Kaj Franck to design this piece in 1953 which has now been reissued by Iittala to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Franck's birth.
The fragile glass bubbles are also dramatic against a window creating almost over-sized raindrops. These are not only beautiful to view but to listen to as well.
