Bellisimo Bitossi! Fifty years of Italian excellence.
Vessel, the authority on contemporary tableware, is proud to present 'Bellissimo Bitossi', highlighting limited edition pieces showing fifty years of Italian design excellence from Aldo Londi to Ettore Sottsass, Modernism to Memphis, by this renowned ceramic company.

Although the company has its roots in Renaissance tile making, the start of its golden era started in the Fifties under the creative direction of Aldo Londi. Working in a post war depressed market, this pioneering designer came in with a unique vision and created thousands of vases and bowls, the most instantly recognisable being the Rimini Blu series. Being so prolific, many of his sketches never came to light, but now have been rediscovered as the gems they are and will be produced in a limited edition series. Bitossi’s expertise lies in its phenomenal range of glazes to exactly recreate the lost colours of the past, and the technical mastery of its craftsmen who intricately hand build each piece.

With his useful knowledge of English, Londi soon played a pivotal part in exporting the nascent Italian design talent globally, forging strong links with a young Ettore Sottsass that would eventually link up with other Memphis architects such as Zanini and Nathalie du Pasquier in the Eighties, and once again all are now gradually being re-launched
in limited, yet affordable editions ( from £100 - £350).

The pieces are exclusively on show at Vessel for the Autumn, making it the perfect opportunity to come and capture a piece of design history.
