The thick layers of glass in the Circoli Birds give them an intense presence. They are elegant but also dynamic. They are asymmetrical, and it is the asymmetry between the head and the body makes this bird family highly expressive.
Although Cicoli Birds are of a single colour on the surface, the skilful interweaving of opaque and transparent glass creates a gentle play of light and colour. The method results in a surprising detail in the abrupt cut of the tail, which manifests a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Murano glass craftsmanship. The crystal glass inside the bird looks like frozen water.
