Scott Benefield takes the exquisite techniques of mid century Italian glass as a starting point to his work. His Tapestry Vessels move beyond historical replica by intentionally disrupting the rhythm and order of pattern to create a unique, tension filled piece that questions our ideas about perfection and control. Tapestries were used to tell stories and document moments in history, Benefield's glass versions also capture the imagination but unlike flat, woven tapestries, these patterns encircle the vase with no apparent beginning or end.
