Benefield takes the exquisite techniques of mid century Italian glass as a starting point to his work. His Vetro Mosaico vases move beyond historical replica by intentionally disrupting the rhythm and order of pattern to create a unique, tension filled piece that question our ideas about perfection and control. The collection uses sheet glass that has been fused into murrine and blown out using only a glory hole (without a furnace).
