About The Bird Collection in his own words;

“These vessels have a definite bird-like quality, the idea was conceived whilst marvelling at a documentary on the great flocks of birds that migrate between Europe and Africa. I felt enormous pleasure thinking that various birds that I may encounter in the spring, would most likely have just flown in from my birthplace.

I am a long-time admirer of the sculptor Brancusi. I envy his ability to capture the essence of his subject, creating a purity of form with minimal detail, whilst projecting profound presence. My response and ultimately in homage to his works, has been to strip back my forms, to achieve an exquisite simplicity, retaining a definite bird-like quality”
