The “Grandfather’s Bowl” combines the use of the very traditional Czech technique of cold casting glass, with the distinctive crown shape, a form based on Olgoj’s interpretation of an old Czech fairy tale.
About Olgoj Chorchoj:
The studio was founded in 1990 by Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček during their studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Since finishing their studies, they have been involved in industrial design, design of furniture, architecture and interiors. They received several awards in the past – Grand Prix of the Architects’ Union and the Interior of the Year award in the Czech Republic. Their work is part of numerous private collections as well as collections of significant museums – Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Museum of Moravia in Brno and the Metropolitan Museum in N. Y. Both architects are professors of design products and architecture at the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design.
