Coral Quillon is a unique solid glass sculpture made in collaboration between the British artist James Devereux and the American artist David Patchen. Patchen's work is known for its intense colors, intricate detail and meticulous craftsmanship. He creates simple cup forms created from highly detail murrini pieces. Devereux then uses these, to sculpt and form the final piece. A final touch, the top edge is purposely broken and fractured, the results are breathtaking, smooth lines are juxtaposed with the haphazard. The artwork is held aloft, poised on a beautifully crafted steel base.
