'Transition of Age TE05' is a unique sculpture by the British artist, Chris Day, created from handblown & sculpted glass with microbore copper pipe & copper wire.

During February of 2023, Chris Day was artist-in-residence at the prestigious Museum of Glass, Tacoma, USA. Joining an illustrious list of glass artists, this unique opportunity, spanning two weeks, allowed Day to take his art in new directions.

Held within the museum's world-class hot shop with their talented team to assist, each guest artist can spend their time focused on making without restrictions, allowing scale and quantity that would normally be only dreamt of. Additionally, each practitioner hosts a visiting artist talk.

His most personal artworks to date, 'Transition of Age' are inspired by Day's own experiences have been born of mixed parentage in the 1960's and growing up in the UK. Using his palette to reflect his heritage, the colours reference the flags of Africa and Jamaica, with the black, poignantly representing people. 

On finishing his residency in Tacoma, Transition of Age TE01 was selected for inclusion in the museum's permanent collection.
