about

'Lost Intentions in Buried Gold No 139’ is a unique ceramic wall installation by the British artist, Nicholas Arroyave-Portela.

These highly textural wall installations explore the artist’s idea of ‘touch-based emotion’, using thick, cracked surfaces to speak directly to the viewer’s heart, without the need for words. They draw inspiration from the gestural forms of the Spanish artist Miguel Barcelo and the Catalan artist Claudi Casanovas, who treats clay as something geological.

Arroyave-Portela works can be found in various major museums and private collections worldwide including the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford UK), the Fitzwilliam Museum (Cambridge UK), The Philadelphia Museum of Art (USA) to name a few.

The artist can also create pieces to commission, please contact the gallery for further information.
